I wouldn't compare it to Viofo, but I did check videos and it's decent, but the definition of decent and what each person expects vary a great deal, as you can imagine

You want a dashcam with Sony Starvis 2 4K sensor.

This is just a remote display to your phone. It doesn't have any Google maps.

The price of this is really good, and it gives you some features rarely found in the more expensive dashcams like reverse parking line assist with a waterproof backup camera (if your car is older and doesn't have it), beside being a remote display. Just be aware that the night vision will be limited in comparison with newer dashcams with Starvis 2.

That is correct. It is not supposed to be a standalone GPS. Your phone connects for either an Apple Car Play or Android Auto interface. Either modality has the maps functionality built in. Those interfaces are the primary method used in newer vehicles nowadays. It isn't a direct mirror of your phone screen but does maintain many of your phone's primary functions

Thanks, OP. I'm giving this a try. One review in particular really sold me on it. That person pointed out the additional features that this unit is capable of with Samsung phones. Apparently, this can be used with a casting feature of Samsung phone screens or it can be used as a Samsung DeX interface (Samsung's desktop mode). I'm a big fan of Samsung Dex and use it almost daily already so having this device be capable of pulling double duty as a device for the car or possibly a portable touchscreen media streamer via DeX seems like a no-brainer. Let's hope it works out.

Wow this gets the gears turning in my head. It was about to buy a wireless Android auto adapter for not less than this, and was in need of replacing my backup cam which no longer works. On top of that you get a dashcam. Not sure of the value relative to others on the market, but this is a great deal for my situation.

Now I just need the wife to get on board with the idea of having another display on the dash 🤣

I'll give it a try to see how it goes in my 2003 Pilot. Would be nice to have to have some modern features on an older vehicle.

Is it terrible that I want to hook this up to my 2025 that uses Android Automotive and has no CarPlay or Android Auto functionality?
