Broke mine in and it ran our tailgate RV setup all season, about 120 hours, exclusively on propane after initial break-in. No complaints. Will go all day at half power easy on a 20lb tank - if we're using more electric than just a TV we'll pop on a 30 so we don't have to deal with it.
Added a meter so I could see usage - easy to do without any permanent modifications - standard connectors inside, I just made a pigtail. Was gonna post a youtube video how to do it, just didn't get around to it yet.
If you already have 12 battery chargers around, you can get various conversion plugs to use the onboard barrel type charging port.
Magnetic dipstick example for those that are wondering -

How many hours at how many watts on a 20 pound tank?

I'm going off memory so I suggest you do your own research but I think this thing uses just under a gallon of propane an hour at full load and a 20lb tank is about 4.5-5 gallons ...

I bought a refurb. It works fine, but it's sooo loud. This is supposed to be one of the quietest generators on the market and it's louder than everyone else's at the campsite.
I'm guessing that was the return reason? Although, people suck so they might just be returning them after using them for the 1 thing they needed. I imagine Costco just takes them back no questions asked.
a 10k BTU ac uses between 800-1500w. your freezer and fridge most likely use between 100-300 watts each depending on size, condition, and age of technology. that would put you at 45-70% of running capacity so no problem there.
I actually canceled my order of the other firman gennie on sale at the moment, because I realized having a smaller inverter setup is preferable to a larger louder one. in an emergency situation, I don't actually want a minimum of 1kw running at all times. a small window unit, the fridge, and TV is all I need! these inverter units are smart enough to actually slow the motor and conserve more fuel.
It is relatively quiet and was quieter than other generators on the street.

I suspect it's Costco return policy, so some mix of people just using them and returning, leaving fuel in it and having carburetor issues, or even just user error like turning everything on but leaving the fuel tank air valve closed and thinking it's broken when it won't start.
