Does the sonic mop work as well as the regular one? Does it not require water?

A general FYI, if you qualify for IDme, there is an additional 10% off through roborock's website (so 900 USD). It says "10% off on all vacuums for medical professionals, first responders, military, teachers, students" (it also works for government).
Also, I don't think I can exactly describe it here but their Shopify doesn't seem to be correctly set up to handle something -- YMMV.

It does require water. It's just a super fast and efficient mop. The vacuum automatically wets, cleans, and dries the mop. All you need to do is refill the clean water, add detergent if needed, and empty the dirty water. My in-laws have this and the mop functionality works well. Doesn't leave any residue, dries up almost instantly.

Reminder you're paying for a service. It won't work without internet and the app. When there's an update for the app or firmware for the bot, it'll stop its schedule and won't run on its own.

Lots of little things like that, that kind of annoy me.

For example, they added a future paid maps service in their terms of service, so you're going to have to agree to it or you have a dead vac.

I'm sure other manufacturers are the same? But having just had to figure out why once again my s8 max wasn't vacuuming on its schedule..no explanation, just stopped following the schedule, again…it's annoying. Vacuums and mops well, when it follows its schedule you don't even notice it until maintenance is due.

difference is a camera for remote viewing. also supposedly the camera is used to map the floors and identify objects. you can also use it as a puppy cam although if you use it for espionage its not very good as it announces it is remote viewing very loudly .

i own this and a dreame l10 for $200. Can say they both do a pretty good job at cleaning. I think the s8 is much faster at cleaning. I think the robots with the rotating mop pads clean hard floors slightly better. But this one vacuums better and has more features. If i were stretched for cash id say any cheaper model is probably pretty satisfactory.
