I just bought the 4K on sale, but would have jumped on this Arrow 4K scan release which is much better than the 2011 25th Anniversary standard blu-ray release.

I used to love this movie. I rewatched it a bit ago and it did not not age well imho. I probably watched in HD though.

Important note, so thank you for clarifying. For reference, this is a 2020 release that came out 9 years after the aforementioned 2011 25th anniversary edition.

I tried to check out and it said there were zero quantity available. Maybe it'll update as it drops out of people's unused carts, but at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday I wasn't able to get it.

I recall (but can't reference a source) that this was the first major motion picture that relied upon CGI rather than models or other practical effects. Can anyone confirm or refute that? Just curious.

They both are involved in 'space war*' via a video game however that is where plots stop having any similarities. Ender's Game the video game is the training method (and interface) use to fight a war like a RTS game and in The Last Starfighter (much less child soldier indoctrination / abuse vibe) the video game is just a test to see if someone had the skill to be a fighter pilot and then it becomes Top Gun in space afterward. Ender's Game seemed more like an allegory of when the ends justify the means vs The Last Starfighter is basically an action / scifi movie with video games thrown in.

*I wanted to say "intergalactic" but I don't think multiple galaxies are involved.

The short story was in Boys' Life. I preferred that ending (as I remember it) to the one in the book. Liked both movies.
