I saw that as well. I've only had it less than a week so can't say long term. However one common complaint was ice maker didn't work, mine has worked properly from the start. Interestingly those reviews noted the door flap on the ice maker was broken, but mine doesn't have a door flap, so not sure if they updated the design or what. The fridge also cooled down very fast, like in an hour. I did enable the rapid cool feature initally then turned it off.

Note the installers did not remove the tape it ships with. I noticed there is tape covering the vents in the back of the fridge. Make sure you remove this before plugging it in. I caught it right after they plugged it in but worth noting to the installers.
Fair, but I've been tracking fridges for a while, and I can honestly say just about every major brand has a mix of good and bad reviews, at least for fridges < $2000. The bulk of the complaints I've seen seem to stem around the ice maker, which wouldn't impact your food.

This particular model, from a google search, seems to go for $1300 - $2400 (lowes). So at $700, seems worth giving it a shot. Couple that with Costcos free delivery/install/haul away and seems like a solid deal IMO. I was happy at $999, but $699 I'm thrilled.
$38 oem for 200 gallon filter life on Amazon. Generic doesn't seem much cheaper, $36 or $90 for 3 pack.

Great price! Just be aware that there are a number of bad reviews where people talk about problems. I can't tell if there are a few lemons or if the problems are systemic.

If you want it, get it now. Imagine this price with stupid 85% tariffs on top.

You can buy a five year warranty, but that doesn't cover the cost of the food going bad and need to throw away when the fridge stops working. That adds up.

I should have also noted in the OP, my understanding is prices ending in .97 at costco means they will no longer carry that item or it is being replaced with a newer model, point being once they sell out, they won't be replenished. If you are on the fence I'd suggest ordering now and pushing the install date out as far as you can. You can easily cancel between now and then.

If you prefer side by side, this Whirlpool 28cu fridge is now showing $499.97
https://slickdeals.net/f/18232153-whirlpool-28-cu-ft-side-by-side-refrigerator-with-exterior-ice-and-water-dispenser-1000-f-s-from-costco

Whirlpool is very YMMV now as the deal for 999 was live for a while and people bought even at that price. They can simply price match.

This midea has much higher chance of getting one.
