Thoughts on the quality of this soundbar and sub? Worth it for $99?

4.4/5 on Best Buy if it's the same one

My guess is that it will be a big improvement compared to TV speakers, but pretty "meh" overall. For $99 it's probably good for the price though. Also, Walmart has free 30 day in store returns.

I see it for $58 at Best Buy. I have one and the ease of setup and sound is decent.

I have Sonos systems and a Samsung systems on my other TVs. This one is in my workout area and I only need it so I can more clearly hear the TV while on the treadmill. It was much cheaper than buying a quieter treadmill.

I don't think it's purchasable anywhere in the US at BB for $58 though?

For 99 i think it is a good price but i have had this for about 3 years and severely unimpressed. Louder than a tvs built ins. But for example, still hard to pick up on soft speech ornfind myself constantly adjusting volume to hear things. Just got a nicer samsung unit for my basement. It was much more expensive but it seems to deliver where this one doesnt. But again, for 99, i am ok with what it is.

Got it, thanks for the info everyone. I think I'll spend more for a better setup.

The biggest takeaway from this deal thread is that Best Buy shoppers have no idea how to take photos.

I have it and it's great for the price point. I do have the Bose 600 and there is a big difference

You are correct. I just clicked on the link saw the price but didn't see if it was available, which it isn't.

I still think it is a good deal for $99

You're fine Yeah, I wondered that as well when I was researching the price.

I'm skeptical, wireless subwoofer sounds like a gimmick (pun intended). Buying a sound bar that is a fixture with the TV to improve quality, but opting with wireless that reduce fidelity. No audiophile but doesn't add up.
fidelity is not nearly as important in the low frequencies than in the high, nor does it require nearly as much bandwidth to reproduce accurately.

Good deal for what it is. I've had it for over a year and when it works it's great. For me it's had a lot of issues with not playing audio when tv inputs are switched, when audio sources are switched (Bluetooth headphones back to speaker & Vice a versa), which requires turning on and off quite a bit. I'm replacing it soon, but overall for the price it's worth it.

I'm having the exact same issue with a Samsung S61B soundbar, and like you, I need to turn the TV off and on a few times to resolve the problem.

I'm thinking that perhaps the HDMI cable is defective or not compatible, or that the eARC handshake/authorization between the TV and the soundbar isn't working properly. I've been too lazy to diagnose and resolve the issue, but it's good to know I'm not the only one being annoyed.

I bought the Samsung soundbar for $100 and, a few months later, got the wireless rear speakers [amazon.com] for $90. It sounds decent—sometimes the Dolby Atmos surround really works well at "upscaling" normal stereo content. The lack of a subwoofer really hurts the overall quality and depth of the sound, though, and unfortunately, they run about $250. Seems like the TCL soundbar has the reverse issue—comes with the subwoofer but no rear speakers...
