The 80's called.... make your own joke. I mean it's a good price at only $7, but I actually didn't realize they're even still selling these phones. Amazon is selling a similar AT&T corded model [amazon.com] for $17. That one has a lighted keypad... this one, it's hard to tell. Feel free to downvote away!

Actual copper traditional landlines are disappearing. Telecoms don't want to support them anymore but are required to in some areas.
Most "landlines" now are VOIP and bundled with an internet package.
You can get a VOIP line through like Ooma or similar for about $10/mo?

I pay about $60 a month for my basic landline service. No call waiting or forwarding and no long distance. Just a dial tone that works no matter what.

A friend bought a corded phone for an elderly family member who kept misplacing or more often forgetting to charge her cordless handheld. This was a sure thing (in addition to the cordless)

They should make a Bluetooth version of these older phones.

Some are missing the real use - with VOIP that many people have.

Even better they make a box this phone can plug into. The box has a SIM card and plugs into a wall outlet but often has a backup lithium battery. Grandma and grandpa don't have to worry about learning anything new, don't need to worry about keeping a device charged since they just plug it in, it works in any room and also works in RVs.

And if they can manage to recharge a cordless home telephone can also be plugged into those boxes. 10-20/month for service since its calls only and no texts or data.

$10 a month for a Landline in NYC. The catch? You have to either get cable or internet with it.

Also, Ya'll are missing the big advantage to a landline phone: When power is out, or you have no cell service, or both, these phones still work.
