The flood light cameras are the best for not having to run additional wire. Never have to change battery and can record 24/7 if desired.
I have had good experiences with ring, arlo, and Wyze. Google nest/home has been crap. I regret investing in the google system. My old arlo pros still run with no subscription and connect more reliably than the google battery cams.

Yes wired are best but there are many situations where that is not feasible. Running wire is a pita. I can have this up and running in 2 min.

I use a couple of these with solar panels. Have never had to touch the batteries in them. I guess that's not possible at every location but it's a great option.

Yeah I have one of these cams with a cheapo 3rd party solar panel from Amazon, in a place with no direct sunlight but a decent amount of reflected/ambient lighting. After a year, it's only down to 95% and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes back up to 100% once the summer sun hits constantly.
I also have a spare for setting up monitoring of animals / house / garage etc when away.
These things are insanely handy, connect quite well, and function in maybe a B - B+ comparison to the always powered versions so they are an asset to my lineup for sure.
$40 is a great deal- I've bought them used like new for $50 historically
