Reviewers say there are no special features like the ones found on other editions

Well, that was $95 I didn't expect to spend today! But I think it's a great deal at $15.75/each. It's not the $350 31-disc collection with media, lithos, etc. But they are all the 4K and include the Extended versions.

I have LOTR 4K and The Hobbit 4K and from the looks of it, there is nothing collectible about this. Do I need to even bother ?

Nice how they trick you into buying a movie series you already own.😀

This is another garbage cash grab. 3rd version released on 4k and still no special features. With streaming being so prevalent these days, the features might be the one thing people buy physical media for. Get with it.

This is a great deal! i would have copped, if i didnt already have the trilogy on 4k digital. but the 6 discs plus 6 digital codes in 4k for 90 is actually a great deal.

No actually you buy physical media for the quality.
Streaming is inferior in that aspect especially on the audio side!

the studios have been dumping junk discs, junk cases and hired lobotomized people to toss them in the cases instead of securing them in their holders.

i've returned four 4K/blu ray series sets this year alone. bought through official amazon and gruv. takes forever to go through to verify there isn't one single part that suddenly sticks/errors. i never had that problem one single instance prior to 2020. the studios are nothing but vampires vultures and sewer systems

You're right, but the answer can and should be both.

Do you verify no errors by watching it all sped up? I can't imagine a method that is convenient.

How in the bloody hell is this 30 DISCS for six films?

If all six films are one disc each in 4k and bluray, that's 12 discs. So what the fark is on the other 18 discs for a set that apparently doesn't include any special features?

I must be missing something.........

Don't tell me these movies are spread across two discs each or something. That would give me laser disc flashbacks. I'm a physical media whore and always will be, but I will never buy a film in a physical format that doesn't include the entire thing on one disc or chip or whatever it is. Those days are over (or should be, at any rate). It's completely immersion breaking.

We have the technology to have each of the extended additions on one disc in 2025, do we not?

Keep in mind these are all 2k upscales, not native 4k transfers and no bonus content is included.
Here's a rundown of the disc content:

3 4k Hobbit EE
3 Bluray Hobbit EE
3 4k theatrical
3 Bluray theatrical

LOTR:

6 4k EE
6 Bluray EE
3 4k theatrical
3 Bluray theatrical
