Some more info. I'll pass - but it's okay for a cheap drive I guess

Seems like fakes are flooding the market. This link is also similar price. Made to look like Samsung Evo

So was the 2TB, 1TB, or 512GB $46? Or all the same price? Title and info on OP are horrible

Big Grin I would never trust this; ORICO is a reputable Chinese brand tho

Very fake.

There's a real orico store on there but the prices are normal price.

No. Don't buy SSD's from Ebay, AliExpress, Temu, or any of the other "auction" style websites. So many of the listings are fakes or are cheap knock-offs. There is no WD 1080 Pro. WD doesn't label their SSD's in the same manner as Samsung. There is no Samsung 1080(yet). If you do order one, what you'll get is an unlabeled Chinese knock-off that likely won't have even close to the advertised storage size and will probably be slower than an HDD.

How reliable / easy is using a PCI-E to M2 adapter for basic storage? I'm out of free M2 slots but have plenty of free PCI-E x16 slots. I my mind I could simply use something like https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-NV...B084GDY2PW and a M2 SSD.

Would that work? Anything I should consider before going this?

Very reliable but i prefer cheaper from ali. They work just as good as same but more expensive from amazon or ebay

It's reliable. Only thing is you may not get the full speed due to the adapter only being a single lane. But it'll work just fine
Also, while your motherboard may look like it will fit x16 cards, it may actually only have x8 or x4 or x1 lanes depending on the slot, so look it up on the manual. Again, it'll all work, just limits the maximum speed.

Yup. I learned this the hard way with a Samsung 970 PRO Plus last year. Advertised as new, but had almost 190tb of write cycles on it. Chinese seller offered a refund, but I would be responsible for shipping it back to China. SSD was $64, and shipping was going to be $19. Not worth it. They bank on that.

If you are using this and have even a few important files u can loose you are asking for it. These may be ok with your are using them in a raid setup. Would never trust alone for any data you can't afford to loose.
