If speed is important you'd be better off buying a separate NVME drive and enclosure like Sabrent's NVME enclosure since you can get pretty close to 1GB/s read/write speeds. https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Type-C-Tool-Free-Enclosure-EC-SNVE/dp/B08RVC6F9Y [amazon.com]

Just make sure to upgrade the firmware/BIOS of the enclosure.

This drive only gets 460 mb/s which is very slow compared to NVME drives, even cheap ones.

I have a laptop with sata interface. Can the ssd be taken out of the enclosure and installed in a laptop?

Great deal! This SSD is tiny. It's super light. Easy to carry it with you. Shock proof so you don't have to worry about dropping it.

To those complaining about speed, this isn't built for that. External SSDs are going to be much faster but they are also much larger and heavier. This is meant to be a portable SSD. I purchased the 8TB one for $320 when they were on sale but it didn't come with an extra SD card.

Are we ever likely to see thumb drive sized SSD drives that can easily fit on a keychain? I can't get a sense of its size and scale from the images.

And, do they tend to be as reliable as thumb drives, in terms of not losing data, or more reliable?

Reading the comments from the previous deal this doesn't appear to be shuckable (I would have had the same plan)

This or crucial x9 pro? I just need to back up a laptop once.

Edit: I decided to opt for crucial x9 pro, for $30 extra you get double the speed and water resistance.

Are you able to supply the link to where you got the X9 Pro 4TB for $210?
Only reference I could find is B&H and the sale ends 4/18

That's the one I was looking at. I was thinking of waiting til prime day. It doesn't come with the SD card but I'd rather the water resistance vs the SD card. I'm clumsy.

I have 4 of the 8TB model. As portable shockproof drives, I love em!. No they don't scream, but the design and safety aspects trump speed for my purposes. Good price, the sd card is but a very small bonus.
