I played this model, color and all, at my local guitar center. I have never played a Tele for any significant amount of time, but I'm a Strat player who couldn't stand my Player from 2020. I LOVED playing it. It sounded and played extremely nice. If I was in the market, I would have bought it.

there were a couple of black friday deals last year that were up to $100 less, so if you want to wait until November, maybe you'll see some more good deals. If you want a Player II today, in April 2025, $650 is the going sales price right now. I haven't played one, but from what I've heard a Player II is a very good value at $650.

What is the specific difference between a tele and strat? To me it is just shape and the pickup config, since guitar is new to me. For the most part lookin for one that is playable for a wide range of styles: jazz, blues, classic rock, rock and maybe pop..would that be a tele or strat?

Pickups and the configuration of those pickups (plus tone knobs). Shape/resonance will be a bit different. Most teles don't have the comfort cut where it hits your ribs - if you play sitting, you'll notice it. Strats have a tremelo, teles don't.

It honestly doesn't matter for style, they are both great guitars and there's a reason they've been around so long (and are both very popular). Go with whatever catches your eye the most or feels the best. A strat is probably a more flexible option if you had to pick based on that alone. Or get a nashville tele and live the best of both worlds.
