How do you guys overcomplicate things? The deal seems pretty simple- spend $10 and get a free burger. What's so hard about that?

Funny enough, the shake shack in my area prices all their burgers below $10, so I can never justify paying $10 full before getting the free item. I love Arby's for this reason.

Couldn't you just add some options to bring it over $10?

Even with "options," it will not be over $10. They price the free burgers at like $6.99-7.99.

What I mean is, the free burger SHOULD BE valued at $10 or more and if I modify it into say a double patty, we'll go with the first burger coming up, Smokeshack; it would need to still be free (meaning Shake Shack should not be charging me for it). The second part is that It would be simple to get anything to hit the $10 minimum.
I want the free burger to be valued at or greater than $10, if I decide to spend $10.
Can't you order something else like fries, drinks or shakes? for whatever it is worth, the place is called shake shack.

But I hate that the free one is a single burger though. Anyway to upgrade the free one to a double? I don't mind paying extra for it.

Why would you want to upgrade the free one to a double, when you could just buy another one and double that? Then you can have one that is over the $10 minimum be the double and then the free one, the single. The whole point of this deal is to give you something valued at at least half of what they want you to spend.

Say I WANT the FREE Smokeshack. The price is under $10. So the free item is valued at LESS than $10. Smokeshack is under $10. No matter how much I buy to satisfy the $10 minimum, it will not increase the value of the free item.

What am I not writing correctly in my posts?

I need the Smokeshack to be more than $10. I need the free item to be more than $10. Buying shake, fries, etc. is not going to increase the value of the free item.

Does this make sense?

if i want a free smokeshack, i add $10 worth of items, then i get $10 worth of an additional item

i usually do a double smokeshack and get a extra smokeshack

side note: i would definitely upgrade the single to a double because either way its a $10 saving but that is not the deal, in think you misunderstand the deal and think its BOGO

ultimately the deal is getting the $10 worth of an additional item, its not BOGO

Last time I tried one of the "buy $x get free burger" promos, the entire discount would DISAPPEAR when I changed the burger to a double, rather than subtracting the price of the single burger. I hope it isn't the same this time.

I do not get $10 worth of an item because the smokeshack in my area is priced at less than $10, unfortunately. Maybe in some markets it is priced at $10 as its original price. I would be spending $10 for a $7.99 item (which would be considered free). Or some people would look at it this deal as buying $10 of one item and then splitting the cost between the two items, essentially getting the two items for $5 each.

Your example vs mine

Regular price of a smokeshack $7.99 in your area. You want to make it a double. Let's write the patty is $2.99 extra. That means you are paying $2.99 towards the $10 minimum and then you will have to pay an additional $7.01 to get over the $10. You paid $10 to get a $7.99 (which is free).

My example. The regular smoke shack in my area is $7.99. Somehow, I am wishing for the Smokeshack to be worth like $10.01 by itself. The price is $7.99. So if I spent $10, both upgrading the free item and buying a separate item or buying a separate item for more than $10; I am still getting a $7.99 item. I do not like the fact that I am getting an item for less than $10 for free because I essentially paid $10 for a lesser valued item as well as for one or two additional items.

But YES, thank you. Someone finally understood what I was writing. It is not a BOGO deal.

See? You want them to do something that would benefit you, like I would want them to do, to benefit me.

The whole point of the deal is to give you a Smokeshack, regardless of price and regardless of modifications. For some odd reason, they do not want one to modify it because the deal only works on a literal Smokeshack. If you made it a double patty, the system would realize it as a double smokeshack.

I actually find this to be their fault because they are losing money. They could have either made more money off you, charging you for the other beef patty and then charging you for the $10 minimum purchase or they subtract out the amount extra you paid on the free item, to modify it and whatever is left that you have to satisfy, for the $10 minimum. Some people on here state to modify the free item and then buy a separate item (I am not sure why). Either way, you still have to spend the $10.
