I've been waiting for a deal on a chainsaw to use around the house for small jobs. Now I just need one on a pole to handle those limbs I'm not climbing a ladder for.

I recommend you wait for a deal on Ryobi 40v Extend-it which has the changeable heads. The Pole saw works well up to 4-in limbs or so, and you can change the head out for a string trimmer and other attachments.

For a small chainsaw I'm actually considering a small gas one so I can zip through cleanup of downed branches.

Brushless or not, this is one of my favorite, most useful RYOBI tools. Great for branches but can also take down small trees. Unfortunately the stock chain is better than replacements sold.

I have one of these and I love it. The brushed version has plenty of power to cut through anything that small and it's great for holding in one hand just chopping up longer branches into a wheelbarrow or cart. Only thing I don't like it doesn't have any provision for oiling so I usually add some between the bar and chain before getting started. Don't know the continuous runtime but one 4ah battery outlasts every job I've thrown at it.

I have this model and it does a great job cutting branches/trunks that are 4 inch or smaller in diameter.
The small one-handed design really saves me the pain of having to carry a full-sized chainsaw up a ladder to cut off some branches.
Unless you're gonna be cutting tons of branches from multiple trees in one sitting, this brushed model does the job just fine.

Did you use it to cut something rotten, or dirt?
