I bought this for ~7.50 from Amazon about a month ago. It's not really 12.50 but it is on sale. I like it. Blade is relatively strong. Handle is a hard very light plastic. Would buy again.

I bought this literally 5 days ago and returned it. The metal part of the shovel was so thick it could barely penetrate the ground. My kids shovels worked better.

This is aluminum not stainless steel. I considered buying this before but I prefer stainless steel because it's a bit sturdier. Aluminum is lighter though.
It's well made, I just tend to bend aluminum.

Aluminum and plastic trowels are great for raised bed gardening where the soil is loose, plus there's the convenience of being able to leave them outside in the elements. We keep a few outside among our raised beds. For landscape gardening, yeah, I use steel trowels.
