American Airlines and Expedia have round trip airfares travelling to and from Rochester NY (ROC) and Los Angeles (LAX) for $163, making 1 stop both ways. These are basic economy fares that allow a personal item and a carry-on bag. There is no seat selection and no change. If you are travelling with children on American, you will be seated together as per AA's policy.

Out of curiosity, do you think travel deal thread responses would be higher if the regular economy price were advertised instead of the basic economy price? For most users, basic economy is not a very slick deal because it is pushing more risk on the consumer vs the airline (usually a more restrictive change/cancelation policy), and also artificially treating the consumer in a lessor manor (seat selection and boarding priority which costs the airline $0), paring down of loyalty perks (lounge access and ability to upgrade), and then monetizing (placing a $ value of 'savings') on getting said lower treatment.
