Most people don't store files locally anymore. What are you storing?
This. I run 2 businesses off my m4 MacBook Air with 256gb and have almost 200gb left on it.
For real. You get a thin machine and then immediately make it bulkier than competitors by adding a dongle for more ports and an external drive....
So… buy a more expensive model with more storage if you are using it for media production/editing. Although, I'd have more of a permanent/powerhouse setup for the bulk of my editing. I wouldn't want to edit on a laptop full time.
Even 2TB of local storage will get you what, 25-30 hours of raw 4k footage? You still need a proper nas setup regardless.

Hard drive size is plenty. With my MacBook Pro I was peer pressure brainwashed into believing I had to upgrade to 512 SSD. Meanwhile I never used more than 180 of it. That's why this deal was an easy choice.
I wish the keys had a bit more cushion. That's the only minor negative compared to my 2015 MacBook Pro. That generation had an awesome keyboard. This does not compare.
They also have the Midnight color option for $836.71. Was also able to use the Discover $10 discount promo offer to knock another $10 off.
I decided to grab one of the Midnight color ones to upgrade my MBA M1. Going to gift that to a family member who needs a new computer. Was starting to feel a bit constrained with the 8GB of memory so going to 16GB will be perfect.
I hate to take the bait, but what are you doing your on your computer where you need that much storage? 256 is a minimum. But I only need files on there while I'm working with it then they're gone. If I'm editing video, I just need to video files and then I export and they're gone. Any other type of files they're stored on my Nas or in the cloud. Get them when you need them.. photographs shouldn't be living on there at all. So what type of media are you keeping there?
