Depends on space, how much people you need to cook for and what you're trying to cook. The larger the unit the more pellets it's going to burn through to keep temp stability as well. Personally if it's for your family I think the 22 is fine. If you entertain a lot or want to cook larger things then the 34 is a good choice. Bigger is not always better in this situation, just depends on what you want to do with it.
You'll go through pellets pretty fast if you're only using it for grilling.
I know others won't like this answer, but in my opinion it can't grill and it's mediocre with smoking. It was one of the worst purchases I ever made and I was so thankful Costco took it back. I know others love them and use them often, but for me, it was not a good experience at all. I have a Webber and I have that dialed in and will forever use one of those or will use an offset smoker they uses actual wood. I get great results smoking with my Webber and they are as good as they get for grilling.
Which Weber do you use?

Started with a 456 square inch which over time I felt was too small and got a deal on an 850.
Now I find myself using the smaller one often because of the pellets. Only on rare occasion do I use the 850. And then you have to justify why there are two on the patio to the wife.
