Very tempting - I have the gen2 kit from a few years ago, and frankly I need the ability to have the router site 150' from the dish, since the cabin I work from has trees all around and that's the closest clearing to the north. I'd love to be able to take it camping and to other places without the bulky gen2 dish.
Been waiting for this. Question: can I avoid the "First month of service is charged upon activation or 30 days after delivery, whichever comes first." and only active it when I need it later?

They (Starlink) won't have any way to charge you, as far as I know.
(I bought from HD* earlier today b/c I had a $15 coupon and b/c they have a 90-day return policy - not sure we need this just yet)
*price also available at WalMart, Target, Best Buy, and more possibly. Buy wherever you can stack a deal/etc.

I would imagine Starlink has no idea when Home Depot sold you the device, so this may not apply.
Either way, I'm in for 1 to prep for hurricane season.

Curious about this, what does one need to activate this in case of emergency?
If you bought this and just left it in the box, do you need cell service and that's it?
Been thinking about a backup ISP in case my fiber goes out. I understand BW limits would likely make this a costly backup.
I bought and held for a few weeks last year, then activated during the series of storms and blackouts. Like a previous reply, you will need the app so it would be good to have on your phone during an emergency. I drove around in the storm till I found a cell signal and was able to connect using a portable battery.
I have several stupid questions. Can I purchase this and send it to Europe and pay monthly using a USA account and address? Also, what is the monthly rate? I see several options. Im looking for around $30 a month but no contract since I'm always back and forth to EU.

I think you get 1 hour of free service when you first plug it in to activate, you do need access to your email or SMS for 2FA
Download the Starlink app on your phone before you lose connectivity
