As per the changed policy,
starting 1st April, Total (and all Verizon mnvos including ST) now require 60 days of paid service
"Straight Talk unlock policy is subject to change without notice."

A lot of us got screwed by buying the Moto G Power in February when the conditions were to pay for 1 month of Gold service.

Just know, you are taking a risk that they will honor the 2 month agreement.
Wasn't 60 days consecutive for me. Just 60 days of service. My 2024 G Power unlocked today, after 30 days service, 30 days inactive, 30 days service, then finally after 3 days inactive.

Good thing is it's not required for ID verification

Also second month you can change to $30 per month plan

Check your credit card for rewards

Agreed, but that's basically true for all Verizon mnvos, not just straighttalk. At least with ST, there is no "shady" id verification to deal with.

if I had to choose to get this phone for the same final price from ST vs Total, I would choose ST just to avoid id verification. YMMV

so this phone is only 3 months old, and I bought the 14 month old model that came out in 2024

https://www.gsmarena.com/compare....one2=13623

seems the newer model is slower but with more features like more cameras, water proof design, gorilla glass (the old model does get micro scratches easily), etc.

Does this deal require 2 months of paid service ? Total wireless only required 1 month of service to unlock.

45 days ago, I was considering getting a second G Power 2024. Now, I finally got the auto unlock, I'm a little bitter and debating whether ~$75 (best case) is worth it, especially with the uncertainty lingering.

Yes, two months but no ID requirement. You can switch to the cheaper Bronze plan for the second month.

Verizon tries to get out of merger condition requiring it to unlock phones

Verizon petitioned the Trump administration to let it lock phones to its network for longer periods of time, making it harder for customers to switch to other carriers.

During Trump's first term, the FCC granted Verizon a partial waiver allowing it to lock phones for 60 days to fight fraud. Verizon claims 60 days isn't enough, and it wants to lock phones for at least six months.

Interesting. They *need* to offer "FREE" phones in order to seduce customers to use their service, then lock them in for increasing periods. Seems to me they don't want to compete in the open marketplace...lousy service, thus the lock, or ok service, but at a high price, thus the lock.
In Europe, as I understand it, there are no carrier-locked phones, and service is overall cheaper than here in US. It's a strange world.

This is a deal breaker for me. The G Power 2024 was a sleeper, esp. when you could get it for less than $100. But I wouldn't recommend a slower processor to anyone.

Personally, I prefer the 2024 for smaller screen, lighter weight, and better processor(?). Think I'll pass on the 2025, for now.

Can you please let us know how you got it down to $75, as opposed to 2 month * $55 = $110?
