A decent set of tools for a DYI person. The only weak link is the circular saw. All the other tools are fine. Having 2 batteries means less swapping when doing a project.

Bought this kit 2 years ago for this price and it's been great. Good for DIY projects or fixing various things about the house.

Can you please explain to me in simple terms as someone who knows nothing why brushless is important?

I lived my first 60 years with nothing but brushed tools and still have nearly every one of them. Brushless is a bit better but certainly not necessary. They use less power for longer battery life. They can be more powerful but the added power isn't necessary. If you use a brushed tool a whole lot, more than 80% of home owners, you may have to change the brushes. Cept most don't know the issue is a bad brush and just buy a new tool to replace their very old one figuring they got their money out of it

brushed vs brushless tech aside, the ryobi brushless line is a tier above their brushed line in terms of quality

This is true with many contractor grade tools, possibly even some of Ryobi's legacy upper tier brushed tools too, but not their low end brushed tools which have sealed motors that do not reasonably facilitate brush changing as it would require prying up little tabs to get the end cap off the motor, then the brushes are spot welded or pressed into to little copper arms, plus the motors se minimal sintered bushings, not really serviceable or worth the bother. Most people would trash the tool but you could replace the entire motor if available.

However it seems unlikely that most homeowners would wear out the brushes in a decade or more. If using a tool that much, do get a higher tier even if from their older brushed generation. I have no issue using mid to lower power brushed tools now that we have cheap 4Ah batteries from Ryobi, two pack for $80 give or take.

The people who keep barking because it's not brushless, are the same
people that barked about no
HDMI. What a crowd!
