Ya know, at 11:04 AM EST this deal has a negative 1 vote for reason: "Not A Good Price." Amazon and Lowes are selling it for over $23 - $25 more. I'd love to know from the person that DV'ed the deal where they found it cheaper.

Literally just bought the 8" version today. This is even cheaper than those were. I personally want the 8" version as I don't want the additional bulk, but this is a great deal and would be better for heavier duty tasks.

8" will suffice for my use cases though.

Worth at least $90 because it's a Knipex. Could be a collector's item some day.

What's the benefit to the notch/recess in the blade? Is it just a personal preference thing?

Think it helps hold thicker material better

I've got the 8" (71 01 200) in my bag also. Fairly compact and minimal so it doesn't take a lot of room (like their comfort grips do).
Makes cutting things like baling wire or electrical outlet screws to length graceful and relatively effortless. Less strain & less harsh 'snap' when cutting using typical cutters. Also good for guitar strings, piano wire, etc.

This notch in this version is for getting a bite in larger diameter wire. If you need to cut smaller diameter wire (like some of the above), the notched blade might annoying to use in practice since you'd have to line it up with the 'front' of the anvils/jaws.

6.5" dipped $33 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C8L9YMX
8" dipped $42 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001D9IW2
Sold by Amazon Germany
Go to Amazon Germany seller and select these categories: Tools & Home Improvement >Power & Hand Tools > Hand Tools > (add a category to further sort)
And select Knipex in Brand
they don't have everything in Amazon Germany but I've got a bunch and they were way cheaper. Only 1 I couldn't find that I bought on Zoro that was cheaper with a coupon. Some of the naming can be "off" so you really just want to make sure you know the model code or exactly what you're looking for. Only issue is that any returns involve sending to Europe and getting reimbursed for shipping which is too high to justify so make sure you really want it but tool wise they're legit and just cheaper than if bought through Amazon USA.

I have an 8" pair of these that I bought years ago that I held onto for an emergency. I do a lot of fishing and it finally happened that I got a crankbait with a treble hook stuck in my hand past the barb. I used these to cut the split ring holding the treble hook and cut off the 2 points that didn't go into my hand. This way the lure wasn't dangling from my hand and there weren't any additional hook points that could accidentally get me again.
