Steam [steampowered.com] has 256GB Steam Deck LCD (Certified Refurbished) on sale $319. Shipping is free.

What "Certified Refurbished" Means:
  • Each Certified Refurbished Steam Deck has been thoroughly tested to the same high standards as our retail units. Every device goes through a complete factory reset, software update, and an extensive examination involving over 100 tests at one of Valve's facilities. Among the tests are all controller inputs, the audio system, the screen, and internals. Battery health is also assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity.
  • All refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units. Although they may have minor cosmetic blemishes, they provide a reliable, high-quality gaming experience at a lower cost.
All Certified Refurbished Steam Decks include:
  • The same one year warranty as a new Steam Deck (unless longer as determined by your country of residence)
  • A refurbished power supply - fully tested (may have minor cosmetic marks)
  • Carrying case and Quick Start guide

Matches previous FP prices. That said, I kind of wonder when they'll drop finally in price?
Also, I personally recommend waiting for the OLED version to come back in stock, but that's just a personal preference as it would be $439 for the 512GB model or $519 for the 1TB model (aka much more than this one)

I bought this same model brand new in 2022 and played the hell out of it until I upgraded to a refurbished OLED this year. In 2025 I don't think I would buy this tbh, I think it just makes more sense at this point to get an OLED, it's definitely worth the price difference. I held off for a while but after making the switch I don't regret it at all, better battery and performance overall.

Amazing how I was able to crunch through my backlog on this thing, I just power it on whenever I have time and put it aside when something comes up, it is great for 90% of the modern games and I got the last 10% that isn't optimize or being too demanding streaming through my main gaming rig.
I even gets to enjoy the Monster Hunter from my old PSP with my childhood (now grown up)friends using the emulator, amazing how much joy it brought me.

Is it better to buy a Steam Deck or the Rog Ally Z1 extreme for casual gaming in 2025? I don't want to spend more than $350 on a handheld, I already have a PS5.

I'll think about it at $220.

If you just plan to stream games, Logitech G Cloud (Android OS) would be great, I think there was a deal of it a few days ago, it can stream every console and PC except switch(2)? You need good home network though.

where are you seeing ally z1 extreme for $350? I just bought my bro an ebay certified refurb with 2yrs Allstate warranty included for $400 and thats sold out now. There was Target deal for new Legion same specs for $390 i think sold out while i was hesitating and MSI Claw ultra 7 for same price that sold out 2 days later. i had birthday 5% and Red card so it would have been $350ish. Based on what i read amd z1 extreme has best compatibility over intel right now but intel is slightly more powerful with driver issues. My brother is enjoying SF6 and PoE2 on it right now.
