Taxes and fees came out to $8.55 for me which almost makes the deal worthless.

My taxes were 2.40 which is standard plus a 0.50 convenience fee for the guy to go get everything. Free pickup means this is a great deal to get $20.48 worth of items for $10.48 + tax and a $0.50 fee

just find items to buy in 2s or 3s to get the deals and maximize value.

They charge tax on the entire amount, not just the amount you pay. It's not uncommon on these type of deals.
