Maybe because mine gets full sun? Had a Sears hose for about 9 years and it was fine until the fitting was damaged. My Flexzilla garden hose (not this air hose deal) developed a sticky residue on it that would stay on your hands and have to be washed off with dish soap.

Just repeating for others who might read this, I have had no problems with my Flexzilla AIR hose and have quite enjoyed it for 11 or 12 years.
The Flexzilla garden hose is garbage and quickly degrades to a sticky mess, less than two years for me.

I have had a Flexzilla air hose for 12 years and am very happy with it. Much lighter and easier to handle than a rubber hose I have. It stays is my garage and is not exposed to sun or harsh conditions. If that's your use case, and assuming the quality hasn't dropped in 12 years, this is a good hose. If you are a contractor or using it outdoors frequently, I'd assume it lasts like the garden hose does.

All "as seen on tv" items have been garbage. Is this fall into that group?

I absolutely love mine. Can't comment on the garden hose products though.

Okay, is this just the hose? Do I need a spray and connector from the faucet to make this work? Anyone?

This is a air hose not a garden hose

I've had the garden hose for 4 years and it still looks brand new. Never had a single issue with it. Interesting that you have had issues

What are some good fittings and couplings to use with these? The Harbor Freight ones I have now do the job but seem to hiss a bit.

You alls are Missing the point that it's a 1/4 inch hose regardless of the brand is why you shouldn't buy this hose.

I think you need to look up the specs on what 1/4 can handle. I have a small harbor freight compressor that can't max out 1/4". I'm not running demanding air tools that require high air flow. Brad nailer and filling tires is what i'm going to use it for.

I looked it up. Go ahead and buy your 1/4 hose so you can replace later. With another slickdeal

Choosing the Right Size
1/4 Inch Hose
• Best for: Light-duty pneumatic tools such as brad nailers, staplers, and small spray guns.
• Advantages: Lightweight, easy to maneuver, less expensive, and easier to store.
• Limitations: Lower airflow, which may not be sufficient for high-demand tools.
3/8 Inch Hose
• Best for: General-purpose use, including inflating tires, running impact wrenches, and other medium-demand tools.
• Advantages: Higher airflow than 1/4", still reasonably flexible, and suitable for most home and shop applications.
• Limitations: Slightly heavier and more expensive than 1/4", but offers a good balance between performance and portability.
1/2 Inch Hose
• Best for: High-demand applications such as automotive shops, sandblasting, or running multiple tools at once.
• Advantages: Maximum airflow, minimal pressure drop over long distances.
• Limitations: Heavier, less flexible, and more cumbersome for everyday use unless needed for specific high-CFM tools

Yes. It's hissing at the coupler. It's one of those things where - If I set the tool down and position it just right, it will quit hissing. It's not really much of a nuisance, but it causes the compressor to cycle more.

I assume it's the nature of cheap couplers....or is there some seal or o-ring that's serviceable in there?

I only ever used the Harbor Freight ones. The only time I had an issue is when one of the couplers rusted out, after that I only got the brass ones. Tape and tightening fixed all my issues.

Yes. It's a cheaply made air hose without reinforcement. I had one that only lasted 3 years. The fittings are plastic and the hose itself is thin and will delaminate and leak. Flexzilla is trash.
