No, it's not. It's available everywhere except CA, as mentioned in the description, had you read it.
These are great specs indeed. Unless you need extra hard drive bays or PCIe expansion card slots, a laptop can serve you just as well. You can plug in your monitor, keyboard and mouse into it, and you probably won't know the difference.

No, you don't have to keep the lid opened. You can change the setting for what the laptop does when the lid is closed. Normally, it would go to sleep, but you can disable that.

I need to replace my 10 year old HP desktop (Windows 10) and from what I've seen this is a great deal re. the configuration. My concerns are is it a mistake to buy a laptop when a desktop is all that's needed. Can't imagine I'd need to upgrade it in the future; internet browsing and Word docs is all I do, and do I have to keep the screen opened and on to use as a desktop? Thanks

Depends on what you're running. If it's a game more than 5 years old? Most likely.

Damn I just got the HP laptop from Costco last week that was front page (https://slickdeals.net/f/18312988-hp-omnibook-7-flip-2-in-1-ai-laptop-16-3k-oled-intel-ultra-7-258v-32gb-ram-1000-15-s-h?sort=oldest&page=1&src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse#commentsHeader)
How does it compare? My old PC is 10 years old, windows 10 about to be obsolete, and I was told 32gb is good for multiple monitors, video editing. I don't really game on this so it's all work and travel. Plus I like that it has 11pro because I wanna do some VMs. I don't really care for touch screen.

I need a new laptop and have a quick question for someone knowledgeable about current specs:

Since the price is similar, which is the better deal:
this MicroCenter (new) or the Dell Inspiron open box deal (good condition)?
And is one considerably better/more powerful than the other (graphics card, processor, etc)?

Dell Inspiron 16 7640 2-in-1 (Open-Boxes): 16" QHD+ Mini-LED 90Hz Touch, Intel Ultra 7 155H, 32GB LPDDR5, 1TB SSD $564.99 at Best Buy

I won't be doing any serious gaming on this, but l will be using photoshop and illustrator for work and often have A LOT of tabs open for hours on end --- and like responsiveness.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Older model. DDR4. No touchscreen. Integrated Xe graphics only which gets pummeled even by the lowly MX450 in my 6 year old laptop. Little hard to see from the pics, but looks like a barrel power port, not USB-C.

I'd value something like this closer to the 500 range, and only for office/media/school stuff. Not for gaming.

So many people overlook the capabilities of laptops and still consider desktops more reliable. In my experience, they are equally prone to breakdown all while one is stationary and the other is portable. Obviously, within decent care.

Yours is much better especially for video editing, but of course you paid more.
