Looking at the review photos, this thing is unusually large. Complaints about it not being loud enough are also concerning. For $17 i guess you can't compare it to a Sena

These are usually about the same size, not that different from a sena btw, it houses a battery so sort of needs to be, but if there is a battery compartment in your helmet you might be able to just hide it there and operate everything via voice, which is usually easier anyhow instead of trying to press the right button wearing gloves.
I have a similar one in one of my helmets and personally prefer it to the $200+ sena specifically designed for my rpha helmet, which is slim, but sounds like crap.

Amazing how cheap these things have gotten. 20 years ago you had to use a chatterbox that was ginormous and cost well over $200 for rider to rider communication.

I think I'll try this for a spare helmet. I'm pretty happy with the Cardo unit in my main helmet and have been curious how a cheaper unit is. I'll keep my expectations low with this kind of price.

Worth noting that these don't have an intercom function, the only way to talk rider-to-rider with these would be for each rider to have a cellphone with them paired to this headset and call each-other.

I'll thumb up any motorcycle content, but with that said, this is absolutely a case of you get what you pay for. I had a lower-mid-end Sena and upgraded to a higher end Cardo and the difference was night and day. I can only imagine what this might sound like at $17.

This Amazon review states otherwise - "The A1 connects to the C6 version as an intercom pretty well."

And Thumbs up for the motorcycle deal, even though I won't be buying it.

All the reviews that mention an intercom are from people who have the C models, except that one review.

https://www.amazon.com/product-re...d=intercom

Perhaps this A model does work as an intercom if you have a C model already, but otherwise it seems that the A models don't have any intercom abilities.

It is tempting to try. To be fair, I never once got to use my Cardo communication function with another rider, so I could have saved myself a lot of money assuming it works similarly.

Thanks, too late to cancel. Luckily its amazon and I can send it back. My kid has no cellphone. The C version is just a couple bucks more.

I've never used the intercom in mine as I'm usually riding solo and when with a group I'm too introverted to care to talk to others. Old school hand signals work fine enough. I really only use my Cardo for music so I'm really curious how this will be.

I believe the main Cardo I use is a Freecom 2X. I bought a used cheap Cardo (Spirit?) and it's definitely not as nice. I'll have to compare this cheapie with both Cardo units.

I think that's the one I have as well, 2X. It's pretty nice I admit. Although the headphones didn't fit at all and I end up using earbuds which I don't love. Although it does keep more noise out.
