Of note, I have one of these (36w) and got a Switch 2. This does NOT work as a display device for the Switch 2 (only charges).
I tested and 65 watt does not appear to work with the Switch 2 either.
That's ballsy to try it on the new switch 2 lol but thank you for testing it out 😂

Wish they made these with 2 pin detachable power cables instead of wall wart.

Works great with the NSW 1, but sometimes I forget it's a dock, so when I try to play portable with this plugged in, the screen won't come on. I got the 65W version to also charge my laptop.

Did you try with 36W or 65W? I believe Switch 2 needs more power

It's the 36w version. Good point - unsure if the 65w version would allow video output.

That tracks. The Viture and XREAL devs have said that Nintendo made some changes that have something to do with the video stream timing on USB output. Both teams are working on fixes to get NSW2 to work with their glasses either directly or using the same adapter as the NSW1.
Go figure Nintendo couldn't just enable standard DisplayPort over USB, which I'd imagine the chip they're using supports by default.

The limitations for the existing adapters from Switch 1 indeed is the video output. In fact I have a few that aren't even specific to the Switch and charging, Ethernet hell even the USB based audio/mic jack of the hub work. But no video. The issue with Displayport -> HDMI along with the standards use to go from USB-C alt mode to HDMI is that it cannot handle some of the more advanced gaming centric features in the HDMI. This would have made a lot of sense for the existing adapters to not work due to VRR, but alas turns out variable refresh is only supported for the built in display. So not sure entirely sure what compelled Nintendo to deviate from this...

You mean just a NEMA 1-15R to 1-15P? That would work, but definitely not as sleek as a C8 power cable.

no, just a cheapo indoor extension cord. like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hyper-...om=/search

if the color matched it'd be pretty seamless

Thanks, great timing. I just bought a used Switch from someone who upgraded to the new model. Looking forward to experiencing 2017 in gaming.

Don't these have a risk of bricking the switch?
