Finally. Add curbside pickup and mobile device checkout and welcome to the 21st century.

Do both sameday and costco via instacart require tipping? And do they both have higher costs baked in to the pricing to cover platform fees?

I wonder if this is why Costco stopped selling instacart gift cards.

Tipping is not required but it's expected. So it's probably best to look at this as a "tip offset" rather than a pure discount.

As far as prices go, Costco via Instacart, with a Costco membership linked to your instacart, has prices about13% higher than in store. It's about double that if you do not have a Costco membership but still use instacart. Costco Same Day also inflates pricing but I don't recall by how much.

I tip the same for both. Since same day is run by instacart you are basically getting the same pool of drivers.

Costco Same Day has a flat 17% on every item (unless the item is over ~$76 since the max that can be taken off an item is $13). Shipping is always free on orders $35+

Instacart's markup is about 10% per item if you link your Costco membership. Delivery and service fees are quite high unless you are an Instacart+ member. Generally, instacart has some sort of targeted offer that resets every week, too.

$10 credit is worthless but I welcome the early hours to bypass the rush.

Yup, if it was $10 off without minimum spend $150 it would be decent. At $150 the markup on the items is at least $20 just for using instacart.

Around half of Costco members are Executive level so I don't expect a dramatic difference especially since many Exec members will intentionally go during that hour to theoretically avoid crowds which could have the opposite effect.

This is my thought as well. Don't think I'm gonna renew Costco next year. Just don't want to deal with the crowds. The 20% Instacart really made it a good deal

It maybe helpful once in a while with instacart GC and those sameday coupons, so, without triple dip it's not worth due to significant markups.

I get it. 50% less crowd is better than 100%.

With that current Groupon deal, maybe that number already reversed with a flood of new signups.

plz no curbside pick up, costco is crazy enough already, they really don't need to designate an area of extra chaos.
