Good deal if you are looking for a $5k Les Paul. But it's more than I can afford.

There's a reason i'm on this platform… i'm poor. You don't have to keep reminding me with guitars like these.

I estimate that after all the baby boomers are gone, the "vintage" guitars including Gibson 50s reissue will go down in value drastically. I recommend Jim Lill's video on tonewood. Days are gone where guitar manufactures can BS their way to jack up their prices for "vintage tone."
Good craftmanship is good craftmanship, though. Try on a guitar that you looks appealing to you and see whether it feels good in your hands, that's about it.

They are POS. They are Gibson Les Paul, after all.

A genuine Custom Shop '58 reissue. Definitely one of the Holy Grail guitars of all time. Folks who don't like it, well, that's up to them. Definitely a great deal and there's a few to choose from on their website. Gibson is making the most accurate reissues they ever have and these are guitars that you can get as a young person and keep for your whole life. I've played guitar for over 50 years and I have owned all kinds of Les Pauls and other guitars. One thing I learned is that don't buy a guitar to impress other people. Buy a guitar that you like and that you will play. I play several hours a week and have been playing for a while. As far as value, I think if you take care of it you should be fine if you want to sell. But it's better to keep forever and let it outlive you and pass it on to your family or friends

I'm genuinely curious why these are THIS expensive. Like, I'm sure there are other brands that make guitars in the USA, custom shop hand crafted. And I respect the cost of craftsmanship. But I don't understand why a Gibson feels like a supreme or Gucci or like, a Rolex.

Its thier premium line....they use the best woods (usually significantly lighter and more resonant), better finish, better q.c., etc...

I've gone through a bunch of historics and customs throughout the years and can confidently say they are better in every way vs the standard line. Are they worth anywhere near 2x-3x the price? Hell no, imo

You are basically paying for the name just like the rolex and Gucci you mentioned when there are comparable guitars for less like knaggs, heritage, and even eastman. But personally I take resale value into heavy consideration when buying and the historic series does really well in that department
