Mine bent when i overloaded it
Usually true, but if it's a choice of putting limited time into building ship storage or progressing a build then it's a good use case. They're also less bulky than wooden solutions.

Wood is not strong enough to build a rack of this design. To make a true T shelf like this you have to scale up the wood to 4X4 at minimum with a 3"X3" heavy mortise and tenons and that would still likely be weaker than this. Your five jut outs eat up about 16" of wall space versus the 5" these take. You could use or make some kind of braced rack but they also take space and you lose all clear and readily available storage that fits in a very small area you get with these.
What you can do easily is mount these to the wall with some screws and be done. Then i can get to woodworking. Your way is money loser for wood and money loser again with shop time and you end up with an inferior product. Do notice that warehouses do not use wood as it is weaker than steel and it can also be a safety issue.
For anybody reading this and considering I had my doubts before purchase but these give you a great amount of storage compacity in a very small area that you will get with nothing else. I have built and tried various wood racks over many years and they all paled in comparison.
