The GMKtec G9 Mini PC NAS Intel N150 Dual Boot System 12GB DDR5 64GB EMMC +512GB SSD Desktop Computer 4*M.2 NVMe Slots/Dual NIC 2.5GbE/ USB-C USB 3.2 10Gbps/ Network Attached Storage is on sale for $185 after 12% discount that appears when adding to cart.

This beats the price of the other recently posted deal for this system (different listing for the same product, although that one is the "revised" version that's basically the same but being sold for more): https://slickdeals.net/f/18397486-230-99-gmktec-g9-mini-pc-nas-n150-12gb-ddr5-64gb-emmc-512gb-ssd-at-amazon

This is priced higher than many other N150 systems, but as a small device with 4 NVME slots, it has uses as a capable all flash NAS or other system. It has well-known heat issues, but they might be partially addressable (https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniPCs/...gmktec_g9/) and not an issue for some people.

For those concerned about the heat issue (described more in detail here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniPCs/...esign_mod/), there are ways to 3D print a stand to include a fan. For example: https://www.printables.com/model/...-g9-cooler

Nice deal! I have one and I've been using m.2 to SATA x6 adapters to run HDDs.

That's one of the benefits of this little machine. With that adapter, there are still slots for a few NVMe drives. I'm looking at doing just what you described to use this as a second unRAID machine for backups.

I was wondering if you mind sharing the link to the n.2 to SATA adapter you are using. And which M.2 slot did you put use it on? I am not sure if it matters or not. And if you don't mind me asking, are you running Truenas? Or other OS? Thanks.

I bought some cheap adapters from AliExpress but I've seen this one recommended on YT https://a.co/d/7mdVF9U
Currently I have 2 adapters (slot 3 & 4) with 12 HDDs and a 128gb nvme (slot 1) for proxmox, ARRs and a DSM VM for NAS. I have everything in an old ATX PC case with a PSU to power the fans and HDDs. The restrictions are that there's only 2 pcie lanes for the 4 m.2 slots and I think those are also tied to the ethernet ports. Also cannot upgrade the ram but I have a couple other NUCs for other services.

Thanks for the info! I am glad the 12gb ram is able to handle that. I hope you don't mind me asking. How do you connect the psu to the drives since the psu is not connected to the G9? How do you keep the power supply on? Is there a youtube or link you can share? I have been trying and cannot find it. How big is your PSU for 12 drives? 300W? 500W? I have an old 650W from way back in the day I hope to be able to use but I just don't know how to keep it powered on. Thanks for any help you can provide. I appreciate your time.

I don't mind sharing as long as others don't mind. Any PSU would work with a jumper, they're cheap or you can diy, my PSU is just a spare 500w I had lying around. I just figured things out as I went along so I'm not expert. Honestly now I would probably get a Beelink ME mini for $209 from their site since it has better cooling and 6 nvme slots.

Thanks! I did see someone (Raid Owl) on Youtube that he added SATA to 1 of the NVME slots but he mentioned only certain ones worked. And since the intent of the layout is to use the center as a cooler, that means the SATA ports won't fit because it is facing in. So, he had to get another ribbon cable to connect from the NVME slot then to the 6 port SATA adapter. It was fun to watch. Thank you again for your info.

Thanks for bringing up that Beelink ME Mini. That looks like it could be a great option. I might wait for that now instead of getting this.
