I bought one of the matte rainbow filaments and it is terrible for printing and has a smell when printing which PLA should not. I get terrible layer adhesion with this and excessive stringing. I also bought their galaxy PLA and it prints fantastic with a nice satin finish and deep colors. Both were dried for 6hrs at 50c before use. I guess results will be hit or miss.

Must of got a bad roll. I've bought from a couple companies consistently and gotten a few rolls like that. Did you check the diameter of the filament? Sometimes they get it wrong.

You would usually print functional prints with ABS which normally would be a solid color. Rainbow would be good for decorative items which you would print out of PLA for ease or PETG for the UV protection if it's going to live outside.

ABS is supposed to smell stinky. And it is toxic. So you should make an enclosure with it and pour the air out the window. You need to make sure you have the right temperatures and speed. ABS is better for things that are going to be outside and hit by UV. Not terribly great though. I've never used ABS I just read about it. Hope what I did write helps

Lol yes. ASA is not. ABS is this price consistently if you buy in any sort of bulk and you're way under this price and not stuck with rainbow.

You're not the target audience for this product. Go buy your 20kg of black ABS & those of us who want fun, custom, unique looking, outdoor toys for our kids will buy 1 of these - at a great price.

We've never printed in ABS because my wife and I are still amateurs, but ABS would be appropriate (and better handle the heat) if we wanted to make something for our kid to play with outside yeah? Any thoughts on that idea or should we consider something else?

We want to stretch out and start learning how to do the other types of filaments now that we've been making things for a few weeks. Rainbow would be just fine for experimenting for toy making!

We set up our Bambu in the garage, it stays open during the day with a fan circulating the air and we don't usually venture in the garage at night if it's printing. Would you say that's probably okay for keeping fumes away from the family inside the house?
