Yes much faster but it will of course likely cost more.

If you only need one or two terabytes of storage building your own external SSD with an enclosure or buying something from Western digital or SanDisk is the way to go.

5TB was going for $89 a few weeks ago. I purchased one from newegg then unfortunately it was lost and never delivered, they're sending out a new one though.

How can they market this in their Black label if its still a 5400rpm drive. Other brands manage to use 7200rpm 2.5" drives in external enclosures....

It's still plenty fast. I routinely get 100 MB/s - 140 MB/s over USB 3.1.
