There's no latency if you hook this up correctly. You either had a lemon, a bad cable, or you hooked it up incorrectly. Govee responds to what's on the screen, so by definition it's delayed. This responds to the video signal as it's being sent to the tv.
Gift card is for $35 for those wondering.
Really? I have the original and the "new" model hooked up with the HDMI sync box and it's spot on. Were you using the sync box as well ?

I had this and ended up returning it. The latency just didn't make it manageable. I ended up grabbing a Govee Immersion during black friday; haven't gone back. Cheaper and more accurate response time.

I'm using the Govee as well. I picked up the Immersion Kit with the camera. For $60 it's amazing. Especially since it doesn't need an external HDMI box for sources to run into.

Note: this does not include the HDMI Sync box, which is the brains and required for this to work. Also need the Hue bridge.

I've heard great things about this product, fwiw. Especially nice if you've already in the Hue ecosystem.

Can someone tell me why this is so expensive? Normal light strips are a quarter of this price from what I see?

Hue is the best (quality, longevity, color consistency, integration) and these are addressable (not the same color the whole time). That's why the cost bump.

No offense- If you don't know the answer, this product is not for you. Plenty of cheaper strips out there, you are 100% correct. Take a look at the Philips Hue lineup to get a sense of the difference between cheap Amazon light strips and the potential of a full Hue setup- they are not competitive products

The Hue Bridge V1 is round and came out in 2012, but is no longer fully supported.- They're on **V2 now which works great... if you're in need of an upgrade there are plenty of bundles with Hubs (and subsequently on ebay)

edit: corrected below that the V3 is still in the works, only V2 is available rn
