It's SATA-based, not NVMe, so slower than the Samsung T7 series or big brother X8.

Potential buyers be aware - this SSD has a relative small cache so not ideal if you want sustainable fast read/write speed. Check out the link below for its benchmark comparison against similar products. Might be a good fit for backup uses though.

SATA3 starndard maxed out at 6.0 Gbps, or 600 MB/s once you taken the 8b/10b encoding

if this one goes beyond that, then it is definitely not SATA.

I am in for one. Was thinking of building one myself using an enclosure and an nvme drive but it would have been more expensive than this to build a 2TB unit. So I figured nvme would have been overkill for the same purpose this unit will provide me.

Unless you have a type c port 3.2 (2x1) this is pretty much useless, perhaps you can buy an type a adapter or a cable if your port is type A. It does not come with an adapter. When connected with a USB 3.0 cable to a 3.0 port it is slower than many USB sticks. What a waste of time/money.
I would have expected it to perform at usb 3.0 speeds when connected to usb 3.0 port and that is not the case. If it was the case I would have kept it because 2TB for $116 is hard to beat.

If you have the latest hardware then this might be fine, but for me that is not the case.
Returning and building my own using an nvme drive and an enclosure.
