I wouldn't pay extra for shock proof SSD but this is a great price regardless.

I have one of these X6 drives and the performance tanks heavily as it gets filled up. Can't say I would recommend.

That's the same reason I didn't get the 1TB one for console storage when it was deeply discounted a while back. The fastest speeds happen out of the box because basically the entire drive is a "fast-write cache", but if you're moving large files like for video editing, as the drive gets written to that cache disappears and leaves you with a much smaller cache and slower write speeds of a QLC NAND drive. Even if you delete the files, the size of the cache doesn't re-expand.

There is an option in Windows that lets you optimize the drive's usage for performance which helps, but with some 2TB nvme drives (both Gen 3 and Gen 4) dipping under $200 on sale (and $20 for an external case), I'd look into that for speed purposes.

This is still $10 cheaper than what Crucial has it for on their site right now:

Confirmed. This is a good read drive but a poor write drive. Very small and light, which is nice. I bought this and returned it for a Sandisk Extreme from Costco and I am much more satisfied.

I have a 500GB X8 Crucial. It has the same cable with it. Do yourself a favor and buy a new cable from AmazonBasics or something else you like. The one that ships with it is fat and not very bendy. I also hate the USB A-C adapter.

This is the cable I bought:
