I have 5 minutes until I have to put the clothes in the dryer so I'll go on a Vons mini rant. They raised the price of day-old bran muffins to $4.99 from $2.99. The regular price is $6.99. I'd rate the quality as a 2. They're ok for a grocery store but if you got them from a bakery you'd never go back there again. I think that the CEO was in a store here a couple of weeks ago. It sure looked like the guy on CNBC. He had a team around him and he was doing all of the talking. Right after that the day-old prices went up. I can't imagine anybody paying 5 bucks for sub-par muffins that are a day old. The day-old section used to be a reason to go into Vons but now it's a joke. And this stupid game. I never win anything and I don't get any of the offers now that I got before the game started. I may switch back over to Ralphs (Kroger). I'm very disappointed in Vons. The main reason I go is for the bagels but the quality is a 1 (the worst) and the price is up there with Noah's and Western. The bagels used to be really good but they changed them to being completely bland. They're worse than a Soy Joy bar lol. To top it off, they raised the price on a 5-pack to $4.79. Individual bagels are 99 cents. Thanks for the big discount, Vons! The funny thing is that NorCal Safeway customers are always complaining about how much they pay. I don't even bother reading the thread because it's one complaint after another (and I see the irony in that I'm complaining now). They should try shopping in Vons for a week. Then they'd really have something to complain about...

That is too high for day old bakery items. They should be at least half off.

Bran muffins....

of all the muffins. You're getting bran muffins? No blueberry? Chocolate chip? Banana Nut? Muffins are your excuse to eat cake for breakfast.....don't get the bran ones lol

One mgr marks everything down to $1.99 at her store but it's all gone by 8. I wonder if she had to raise her prices. I went to my Vons a few minutes ago and there was a lady filling her cart with day old stuff. As long as people are buying it I can't really blame Vons for raising the price but it is outrageous to ask that much for it.

Bran muffins aren't my first choice unless they're honey bran from a good bakery and then all bets are off. Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near a good deli or bagel store. I don't even live near a good grocery store like Gelsen's or Bristol Farms that would have a good bakery. I'm stuck with Vons or Ralphs. The Ralphs bakery used to be so good before Kroger bought them. Hughes had the best bakery but Ralphs bought them out and then Kroger bought Ralphs. I grew up in walking distance of a bakery that was out of this world. Now it's a paint store.

And it's always the same items. They should get the hint LOL The Vons bakery was never very good but it got a lot worse during covid.
