Got the M12 Fuel Surge impact driver/2 battery kit for $97.7 + tax.
HD is running promo to this kit for $179 with one more free tool. Select the M12 Rachet ($149) as free tool, add both to cart would make the impact driver kit price to be $97.7.
After that, use the typical HD hack.

I got this impact driver with the intent to only keep one tool for light drill/drive tasks mainly on dry wall. Like how the Surge is slightly quieter than normal impact driver, too.

Is a surge impact different than a regular impact. If so, which is better.

The surge is quieter. I love mine for any type of indoor work.

I save the M18 Fuel impact for when I have to drive like 500 deck screws.

Great deal!

Surge uses a hydraulic driver versus metal to metal…it's also quieter

I think M12 fuel regular impact is more powerful than M12 fuel surge, but surge is definitely quieter. a bunch of YouTube video out there compare these two versions.

It's not really a matter of what's "better" unless you're looking for raw speed/power - the Gen 3 M12 impact driver will win hands down in those categories. The Surge will be less noisy, but still do pretty much anything you could ask of an impact.

The other notable difference is lighting. The Gen 3 impact driver has really nice tri-LED lighting situated around the bit holder, where this current gen Surge is just the older style single light.

I did quite a bit of looking before getting my M12 impact. In force and other "power" metrics, the regular M12 impact wins. In some cases it is a substantial difference, but only really comes into play if you're pushing the tool to its limits. If that's the case, you probably need, or already have, an 18 volt tool. The main draw for the Surge is less noise, and I think slightly better battery life (it's in the minutes, if anything). It's basically for someone working in a client's home and they want to make less noise. I'm planning to get it since I'm finishing a basement soon and don't want the noise while trapped in a concrete box.

Hi, I will like to buy this set. Question:
what is this hack in the description? After that, use the typical HD hack.

Thanks for the help

After I bought a surge impact, I no longer use a regular impact. It does everything that a regular impact does, except it is super quiet. My wife no longer complains about the noise and I'm happy.

It's only super quiet next to a standard impact lol... they're still quite a bit louder than using a drill.

An impact vs a drill is no comparison. Like night vs day.

Some YouTube videos also show how Surge might have better control than a typical impact, due to how the hydraulic drive works (slower spinning, etc.). Trade off would be that Surge would be slower to complete same drill/drive work, but for my use speed isn't a limitation at all since I'll probably only need the driver a few times a month

also louder than pulling a screwdriver out of your tool box and twisting it by hand! Oh the horror!
