I'd skip these unless you are using them right behind your head (like literally within 2 feet).
I tried them (with a compatible soundbar of course) and was not impressed at all for my use case which was more music than movie surround. So I didn't even try them for movie surround. I even got them for this price but just returned them last week.
Yes, the volume was adjusted all the way for these speakers using the app.
The 9500s is way better but way more expensive and also has limited compatibility.
Do you need another Samsung box to connect these to in order for them to work?
This is one power cord to one speaker which feeds the signal to the other speaker using included speaker wire. A step up from older models that had the connection box. It is, though, a step down from the fully wireless that only need power which is the 9500s and the included rears for the 990B and 990C.
The audio quality is very poor on these. I'd highly recommend getting the atmos / dtsx version 9500s rears. Best buy has them for around $125 excellent condition open box shipped. I just got my second pair of them in today and they came like new.. as you would expect. Each rear has 2 channels 1 of them being an upward firing channel.
If your soundbar model number ends in A B or C.. They are compatible.
*Edit .. the 9500s excellent from best buy isn't currently available but it comes and goes for very cheap if you keep checking. They are $300 rears you can find for around $120.. basically new.

Just throwing this out there but these cheap speakers can get plenty loud .. you could have for example turned down all the other channels keeping the rears up so you would have just needed to up the volumn on your tv. Make sense? But either way like I said I'd stay away from these very cheap poor audio quality.. it's all about getting the 9500s rears.

I purchased brand new 9500s in-store at Best Buy yesterday for $120.99. I believe they're on clearance but it doesn't show it on the website. There wasn't a price label so I had them scan it and it came up with the clearance price.
