Pray for me people... I'm going in.
I have had this exact drive for about 3 weeks. I am happy with the speeds. I was able to achieve 7411MB/s read and 6464MB/s write in crystaldiskmark tests on this drive. Cannot speak to longevity but the advertised speeds are accurate. Much more accurate than my crucial drive that I returned to buy this one. This is a DRAMless drive as someone else mentioned but it uses HMB 3.0, and SLC cache instead. not sure what that means exactly for performance but I have been very happy with the performance of this drive for gaming (starfield) and reducing loading screen times.

Thanks for the review link, and the great find OP! In for one.

I read Tom's review and a few others. There's always the gamble of the ole component switcheroo, but I'm not too concerned here. Reviews are from early August till now.

Great ssd deals have been nonstop this year dating back to Spring. With this last day of Prime deals, I'll try and shorthand why this is def slick for anyone wondering:

- excellent performance for the price

- excellent for laptops; low power usage, high-efficiency, single-sided.

- yet still very good for desktop users who don't need top-end sustained i/o. For most people it'll even do great as a primary drive in a desktop, but personally I'd still look for a ssd with DRAM and a longer track record of reliability.

Bottom line: buy a ssd now if you plan on using it soon, but do NOT give in to FOMO and buy otherwise.

Maybe by Black Friday/Xmas this thing will be $150, but most forecasts say the flash/dram market has stabilized. Odds are prices won't drop much lower, if at all. That also means prices are unlikely to go UP, too. You might lose/save ~$25 buying now versus later, but honestly, with a 4TB drive are you really gonna care?

In my case, I bought a 4TB Acer Predator gm7000 ssd back in May or June for $251 (that's $278 with tax!). By Prime Day it was $50 less than I paid. Yes I coulda gambled and saved an extra ~$55 by waiting 2 months for rock bottom prices, but I put that ssd to use right away and didn't have to think about it anymore. For me, the peace of mind was worth at least some of that $55. Now that same Acer ssd is on sale for $190! Nbd, because I'm jumping on this one instead. YMMV.

Prices won't go up. The prices are determined by the market, and as long as the market is expecting they'll go down further, they will keep going down.

Even money says the manufacturer has already swapped hardware to QLC crap.

Host memory buffer - doesn't that mean it has no DRAM and uses the computer's RAM instead? Wouldn't this be something hardcore gamers would shy away from?
