Amazon has $100 off both the 64gb and the 256gb iPad Air 5th gen models again. Rumors about new iPads continue to circle, but if they were going to announce new models in 2023 it seems they would have done so with the new Pencil they announced last week - most speculators are suggesting a refresh in 2024. Seems like a good deal if you want an M1 now.

Almost a year I have been seeing this price repeated every few days. Does anyone know any better deal than this?

The Air series doesn't typically drop much due to it's "premium" status. Even old Air models go for top dollar.

I've owned the Air 5 since it's release and it's my first Air model (always used standard iPads before). Honestly, if you simply use your tablet as a media consumption device instead of a portable PC, and don't use the Apple Pencil, I would stick with the standard iPad. The Air has a 'slightly' nicer screen (though not as bright), but it's very expensive to fix if you break it- youre almost required to get Apple Care with it. The battery life is also worse, it's heavier, and it's thicker.

The only big advantage on the Air for me at the time was it uses USB-C. Now the standard iPads use USB-C too.

So...next time around I think I'm going to save several hundred dollars and go back to the plain old iPad. Just not enough benefit.

Yeah, the Air does sit in this weird spot right now, especially because of the storage. If the base model came with 128gb I think it would be very attractive, but 64gb is small, especially if you're wanting to do creative work on it. 64gb seems the best for basic uses, but in that case a regular (cheaper) iPad is likely the smarter buy. If you need the storage of the 256gb model, Apple sells refurb iPad Pros (that have brand new outer shells and batteries, plus 1 year warranty) with the M1 and 128gb of storage for $640 with a better screen, speakers, FaceID, and faster USB-C, and 128gb might just be enough too.

Idk. It's a deal, but it might not be the best one right now.

Yeah, I think for a good chunk of people, the 9th gen iPad works just fine half the price.

Ipad 9th gen still uses Apple's lightning charger unfortunately, not sure about the 10th gen.

Not sure what's worse -- $500 for a 64GB tablet for $1600 for a 8GB RAM MacBook Pro?
