Metabo has been around a long time and gained their popularity with angle grinders. Anything previously branded Hitachi is now Metabo HPT.
I'm a serial home builder and I'm doing many projects all the time. Metabo is my entire kit. I have nearly every tool and doubles and triples of many, including this drill and impact. I think these are the middle of the road models for both drills and impacts, which are perfectly adequate. I use them almost daily. The thing about this brand is that there's a ton of them out there, and while not every individual tool will be the best in the industry, their stuff punches far, far above the price point you can get them for if you hunt for deals.

You will frequently see this brand going on sale for nearly half price of its competitors and some of their tools are the best I've ever used. For example, the high-end impact called a triple hammer. It's the fastest impact I've ever seen. For half the price of the yellow tools You can have some really good kit.

I'm new to tools and looking for a combo for doing DIY. How are these compared to Ryobi combo (comes with free extra 2.0 Ah HP battery)?

These are contractor-grade and much higher quality than Ryobi, in general. Where you'll notice in your particular use case?

They should have added the battery as an instant offer instead of a rebate

Go with Ryobi. By far, the most tool options and the best value in cordless tools.
I'm on my 4th DIY home remodel over 10 years and still using the 6 tool ryobi set I paid $150 for.

Just buy craftsman only $100 for the pair and come with 2 batteries. They work just fine. I use them build benches (90 benches) and other stuff around the house. They'll work just fine

These are excellent. Comparable to the top brands and usually on sale for ridiculous prices.

Ugly ass name. Should have stayed with Hitachi, known reliable Japanese company.

Metabo is in Europe a well known established brand. Their tools are made in Germany.
In most markets they sell tools, Metabo has a much better brand recognition than Hitachi.

These are not made in Germany, and don't need to be. I have original Hitachis, drill, saw, sawzall, driver, light, all working fine after years of use. About 1/2 the batteries are still good too.
