Btw, Locomotive Breath is a great song and Ian Anderson is a phenomenal flute player but he never got the recognition for how good he really was. He developed a style that was completely unique and I've never heard anyone successfully copy it. Ian Anderson is probably my favorite flute player. I also like Hubert Laws and Joe Farrell. Farrell was as unique as Anderson but in a completely different way. Sorry, I used to play flute myself and I was in awe of these guys. Unfortunately, the more I practiced playing the flute, the worse I got. I was so bad that my parents would hide my flute and my dog would bite me when he saw me pick it up.

This reminds me of when I took piano lessons, lol. Too bad the piano could not be hidden. I do not have any musical talent whatsoever. Thanks for the reminder and chuckle!

I don't understand how it's possible for me to love music so much but have so little talent. My mom was a very good pianist and my dad could also play. My nephew is amazing. He picked up a neighbor's sax and in 3 months he was first chair in his high school's jazz band but he doesn't even like jazz lol. I was teaching him how to swim when he was little and we were working on a flip turn. He did it perfectly on his first try. Better than I can do it. I still love him but it did upset me a little bit. I've always had to work really hard to get good at things. I'm a very good swimmer but it took me years of practice. He just jumps into the pool and he's Michael Phelps...

Who knows why members of the same family have some wonderful talents and other members have no clue, lol. I was told my dad was a member of an army band but never heard him play or if I did I forgot as he died when I was seven.

i believe his talents may have been passed to our son. Dad was an electrical engineer and our son is a wizard when it comes to mathematics and all things computer related. And in middle school he started playing the violin and while he never had a great interest in competition or practice for that matter, he does play beautifully and continued in the orchestra through high school and often played at church. I just wish I could get him to play for me now but so far, no luck.

Speaking of swimming, that is something I have in common with our son. I guess things are just random.

I was never much for swimming in the pool but take me to the beach and I'm like a fish. I love to glide down the face of a big wave spinning like a corkscrew and then pop out the back while the board surfers get slammed when the wave closes out and crashes on them. I had to stop bodysurfing after I broke my hip a few years ago and I really miss it. It was the one part of my life that made sense. I didn't have to think about things. It just flowed.

I've always enjoyed swimming, frolicking, whatever in the water. Both our son and myself have been compared to a fish many times.

My previous mentioned dad, whose motto was if 'one can read, they can do anything' actually built a ski boat when I was a year or two old (often heard the story of how I got into the fiberglass and was itchy for days) so I was in the lake most weekends during the summer and learned how to waterski very young. My mother kept the boat for several years after my dad died. And then my husband and I also had a boat for a good portion of our son's childhood. Unfortunately, never actually lived on the water but still enjoyed it as often as possible.

In my older age swimming was more of a favorite form of exercise which was done in a pool but no where near as fun as being in a lake. And I'm guessing your favorite body of water is the ocean, right?

I loved to bodysurf and play racquetball when I was younger but now it's just going on walks every day. I live in the city so my walks aren't the greatest. There's a lot of traffic and you have to watch out for the motorized bicycles and scooters.

has anyone purchased vouchers from local flavor / clipp lately? I have had a few merchants refuse to accept the voucher after I purchased it. Clipp did give me credit, but did the merchant get the original money?

Went to a Dollar General grand reopening this morning. They were giving out free $10 gift cards to the first 50 people plus a tote bag and plastic cup. The line wasn't bad (I got there about 10 minutes before and there were about a dozen folks in line). They had sent out $5 off $20 home mailers (one for this week, one for next). I didn't put together any deals ahead of time - my total was $23.40 and paid $8.40.

It's been 2 years since the Alex Murdaugh case. I wonder if that blank is still alive. Hope not...

The tv show Succession ended around 2 years ago. I wonder if we'll ever get a sequel. I'd like to see how things turned out with Tom in charge.

Did anybody watch the new episode of Yellowjackets on Friday? The end was a Holy Blank moment. Next week's episode will break the internet.

Netflix just added Aquarius and I'm really enjoying it. It stars David Duchovny (The X-Files) and it takes place in Los Angeles in the late 60s. The central character in the story is Charles Manson.

If you're interested in Manson or serial killers in general check out Mindhunter on Netflix. The actor who played Ed Kemper totally nailed it. The Manson scene is in Season 2 Episode 5 and what Tex Watson said at the end totally blew my mind. I'm like wait, what..

I can't get myself to watch the new episodes of 1923 and I'm wondering if I should give King of Tulsa a try. I haven't started 1883 and I've never seen Yellowstone. Landman was mixed but Billy Bob Thornton was great in it. I enjoyed Lioness but I don't know if I'd watch any new episodes.

Of all of the shows I mentioned, I think that Aquarius is the best. If you liked LA Confidential and Chinatown, Aquarius is the show for you.

Oh, the documentary on the making of The Godfather is really good but I ended up not liking the director very much. There's an indirect connection to Manson and The Godfather. Paramount wouldn't have made The Godfather without the success of Rosemary's Baby and the director of that movie was Roman Polanski who was married to Sharon Tate. There's more to the story but it's pretty wild and I can't prove any of it.
