Yes to the virtual card numbers question for this particular card. Via mobile, strangely you have to do it via Chrome browser vs the Citi app.

Do your virtual numbers work? I tried 3 and none worked.

I've had this card for at least 7 or 8 years now. No issues at all. Had my information stolen twice (Not CC company fault) and they quickly sent me new cards, refunded false charges, everything was smooth and worked great. I love the ease of 2% cash back on EVERYTHING. I don't want to think about anything with cashback, just give me a solid amount. My friends use cards with 1% but bonus on categories, I guess maybe that is better if you keep track but I don't have the time or worry about that.

Over the course of using this card I've gotten the following for free (I save my cashback for 'fun stuff').
- Xbox One X
- Xbox Series X
- Playstation 5
- Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Earbuds
- EGO 670 CFM Leaf Blower
- A couple nicer dinner with my wife

I use my CC for everything so it racks up quickly.

Just don't fall for using this thing at Amazon, they will try everytime you check out. But the points don't convert 100%. Like 1000 points is I think $10, but on amazon it's like $8. Its dumb, just use it to cover expenses on your account each month (kinda a pain) or just give yourself a nice statement credit anytime you buy something big/fun (what I do).

Walmart too. Be careful paying at the creditcard machine.

Yes. I've been using Citibank virtual card numbers (VCNs) for years.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think each Citibank VCN (once charged) can only be reused by the same merchant vs used among multiple merchants. Not sure if this limitation applies to your situation, but that's all I can think of as to why a VCN didn't work for you.

I applied for Citi Double Cash last week and got this insulting $500 credit limit. This is my only Citi credit card. Considering closing this account now

Did you contact Citi to ask why? I have had two cards for years. This one and Capitol Ons that gives 1.5% on everything. There may be better deals but rotating categories or different benefits for different categories is not for me. Both cards have been there when I needed them and both customer service departments have been A"+. I pay everything in full so I'm not concerned with rates and I don't recall foreign transaction fees ordering online (I don't travel abroad).

Nice post and yes some merchants deals are not equal. When bonus points aren't offered. It's always best to redeem for cash (or a credit on your future bill.

I really hate these promoted CC posts, but this is really a solid credit card. Signed up years ago with no bonus offer bc it's just an easy rewards system. 2% off everything is great if you don't spend a ton (since there's no annual fee), don't want to deal with variable and dynamic rebate rates for each category of spending, especially if you don't travel. I just credit the rebate to my bill once a month. Highly recommended.

Even if you do travel it often works out better to take cash.

As I recall even the best travel cards have an equivalent cash rate of 1.6 or 1.7% when you account for the bullshit pricing they claim your saving from (the price nobody really pays).

The downside of cash back cards like this which don't suck is constant pressure to "upgrade" to a travel card because it's a higher profit margin for them. No travel card user ever gets pushed to cash back.

Combine this with other rewards cards and use whatever's best. Which means I earn AT LEAST 2%. My annual average across all cards is likely a little below 3%. Those PayPal and ewallet 5% offers really workout well and I get my max benefit by the end of the quarter.

The representative didn't know why. They said the credit limit was determined by a system they had no control over. I tried to increase my credit line twice but no success. I now prefer using Fidelity credit card which gave me over 10k CL and also has 2% cashback on everything.

Apparently you don't get the bonus until the end of the next full billing cycle, after you reach $1500. So technically it could take up to 2 months.

Wells Fargo Active Cash is still my go to card, because it has cell phone protection too. 2% back is the most you're going to get for all purchases. So this could be a go to for someone as well.

Is that the only benefit of the card, no travel protections or extended warranty? Also has 3% foreign transaction fee.

Does it include the virtual card numbers Citi feature?

It does include virtual card number feature. I use this a lot.

I'm surprised this is not FP. From doctorofcredit: "Sweet deal for the Double Cash card which now has the flexibility of being either straight cash or ThankYou points. We may have briefly seen $200 before at launch and we've also seen $100 and $150, but typically there's no bonus on this card."

Combo this with Citi Premier and you can transfer the points to airline miles

I've had this card a long time and it was always this way...

Is there a way to track the bonus? I signed up, got the card, but I don't see anywhere on the website if the bonus is active or how much more to spend until I reach it.

I have 2 citi cards, this one and a starter card. The starter card had a move to a better card offer I took. I forgot what made it better and callled support and they had no idea. They said there was no deal to move. I found it a few weeks later.

My point, track it yo self.

The minimum APR of 19.24% is a rip off, even with the 2% reward. Consumers should boycott these companies ripping off people.
