I own one and have made it my full time PC. I suspect the reason there are so many open box ones are because people expect it to be a simpler device like a steam deck and can't make sense of using windows in a handheld. I bought it knowing it the ups and downs of windows in handheld mode and I'm not at all disappointed. Performance is great, it's a great device to play with both as a docked PC and as a portable gaming machine.

I don't find the fans to be noisy... it has a fan, it is cooling 30W+ of heat from the system... so you will hear it. But it's not unreasonable.

I personally love it. I'm posting from it right now.
I have a USB-C docking station, a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, speakers and a monitor hooked up to it. It's my full time PC at this point.

Prior to this, I was using a 12C Xeon workstation with 64gb of ram and a RX580 video card. It was loud, a power hog and heated the room badly. This is quiet, cooler, performs arguably better (geekbench, cinebench, games, etc.), and I can carry it around if I want to play video games on the couch.

One thing that is critical to keep in mind is that you have to do everything through USB-C (one reason I picked this over the Asus was it has 2 ports), and the 16GB of ram is split between the system and the video.... so if you can temper your expectations with those in mind, it's a slick machine.
Yeah no...not everyone wants to put on headphones and isolate themselves from everything around them just to get around a design flaw.

Has the software improved? If so this would be a great deal.

Pretty nice deal. I recently tried a ROG Ally, and my brand-new unit came with a broken stick. Other people complained about sticks on Ally breaking too. Not a good look. Plus the whole SD card thing... I decided to stay away from it. So, the Legion Go is the next best option (if you want a Windows 11 hand held). I'm still thinking about it. The only downsides I can see are the weak speakers, and an annoying high-pitched sounding fan, but for this price, you'd be getting a very capable little computer. If you want something a bit smaller, the new MSI Claw might be alright, it looks like a ROG Ally without ROG Ally's issues, but it's not shipping yet, so no real reviews.

People say it has, and continues to improve further. I haven't used one yet, so can't confirm, but the one thing I was wondering the entire time, is the software really that important? I mean it's a Windows 11 PC, in theory you should be able to use it just fine without any Lenovo software at all, right?

There is one open box fair 45 mins away. Is it worth getting. Considering how new this product is, I wonder what happened to this unit to be considered fair and not good or excellent. Have there been any issues reported?

The fans are extremely loud on some models, coil whine also.

The one thing that's still making me hesitate on these, is how many open box units they seem to have. My local BestBuy doesn't keep any new ones in stock, but has several of every condition open box available. It's a bit sus, since it appears a lot of people are returning it. Plus, the Open Box on Legion Go appears to be discounted more than similar items, like the ROG Ally.

At the end of the day, you can try one. If you don't like it, return too Smilie

The OLED Steamdeck had the same issue. Which users have solved themselves by opening it up and adding a couple of plastic washers on the headphone component.

Precisely this. Most of the open boxes have no verifiable defect beyond user error or dashed expectations based on a misunderstanding of the hardware/software. Had mine since day 1 and I love it

That's a fair point. I suspect it may very well be the case, especially after the holidays, when a lot of them were probably purchased as gifts for kids, and the parents then realized these machines are way too complicated for their needs.

In some cases, sure, but in others may not be enough. I think I should have been clearer. I don't mean those two would be a dealbreaker to me, it's just something I see a lot of people mention.

So, another question. Since we're talking about Best Buy, does anyone know if they still have a 10% off coupon? It looks like there is always one floating around. Back in October, I was able to use it on several items, including really expensive ones that one would think will be excluded, like an Nvidia 4090FE, but it worked. Fast Forward to today, I see similar looking coupons, but they never work on anything for me anymore. Does anyone know if they have limits? Or what could be the issue? 10% is not a huge deal (but it can be), still, I feel so indecisive, if the coupon worked, I'd order one right now Big Grin
