I ate these every day for lunch for about 2 years. Still really like them. Can be had cheaper at Costco

Over a half cup (dry) of cooked rice is a big inexpensive meal
if you live near an indian grocer, they may sell 10oz packs like this with a far wider variety of cooked ingredients, spice complexity and heat levels for $2-$3 each. i don't buy madras at all because most of their products are geared to the bland low spice low heat american pallet.
Sodium per pouch is too high for me (1040mg or 45% of your DV). Darn, really wanted to get these.

It sounds so recent but it just dawned on me that 2019 was half a decade ago lol. It's a shame but prices tend to go up over time

November of 2019: how'd I get stuck paying 5.29??

BTW, I tried their eggplant in tomato sauce recently, and it wasn't too bad.

(I miss being able to walk to Lex x 27/28 for lunch......)

Costco has these on sale every 3-4 months in an 8-pack that sells for abouit $12. This is not a great price if you are a Costco member.

It might be worth learning how to make it from scratch.

I've settled on pressure cooking dry lentils, 1.75 cups water for 1 cup lentils, and one of these sauce packets [passagefoods.com] that I found for cheap at Kroger. But if you want to cut the sodium you could experiment with unsalted tomato sauce, with a little cream or sour cream, etc. Not as convenient and probably less tasty than these packets but can be done with almost no prep time and you control the salt.

I've found these to almost match better with Mexican night than Indian.

I just got it at 40% off. Went back afterwards, and I could still get another then for 20% off. I went with Bombay Potatoes for the second order (same price as lentils).

bought these at costco. I will lazily add a microwave rice and call it a deal. There's no spice to these.
