This is the 1080 version and is slower. Get the onn box from Walmart for 20. 4k and double the ram over this version.

Is this is the kind without Google TV that lets you Chromecast from Netflix without the IP address restriction nonsense?

EDIT: Nope.

I was going to write the same thing. We have the Cheomecast 4k, chromecast hd and onn streaming box 4k. I can't tell the difference using them. The onn box is cheaper, has a slightly better remote and can do 4k.

We use tailscale with our chromecast and onn box to allow us to use the same Netflix account from anywhere. Works like a charm, though the user interface is bad. You do need something always running tailscale at the main residence. A raspberry pi works well. I gave my parents a synology nas to store their movies and do backups. Now it also runs tsilscale. Almost bulletproof.

This sounds WAY more unnecessarily complicated than simply using a pre-Google TV Chromecast device, such as a used Ultra.

Better remote?
All I want to do is chromecast certain streams from the non-big sites to my TV. You think the Onn would be perfect for that?

I picked one up during a previous sale (coming from Chromecast Ultra) and didn't like it. The Google TV homescreen is very laggy and is frustrating to navigate because of the slowdown. It also pushes content ads all over the home screen. Also, unlike the older Chromecasts, this one doesn't let me adjust the volume from the device that is casting (my phone usually). Ended up just going back to the Chromecast Ultra

Can you cast from a browser to the onn box? My issue is I have a fire stick that I can only cast YouTube, etc but not anything from browser like I can on my gen 1 Chromecast
