"They" have been making metric only, SAE only, and combination sets for half a century.

SAE is far from obsolete, being used on practically everything in this country except for modern automobiles and bicycles.
You're welcome Paachi.
I was looking for a "no-skip" set to go on sale for quite a while, using these metric sizes on my F150 and Toyota Sienna.
Hate starting a mechanical repair, getting knee deep into it only to find something that needs to be undone and you're missing that socket. This set will cover most anything I get into - brake jobs, struts/shocks, CV axel, alternators, water pumps, radiators, etc.

Isn't 1/2 on a 8 socket too much torque?

It is if you are going at it with a nut buster hi torque wrench. But for stuff like the Milwaukee ratchet it's actually perfect and the standard size of 1/2 makes it convenient

Not for loosening. For tightening, you need to be smart about it or use a wrench that's smart.

That'd be nice, but I don't see it happening anytime soon and even when it does, there will still be a lot of SAE stuff around that needs fixing.

nahh it good to keep your math skills sharp trying to figure out which socket is bigger 19/64 or 11/16th or 5/8th.

Let alone trying to figure out how to cut a 5' 7 5/8" piece of lumber in half.
