You can get a bottle of clear nail polish, and paint the knurling with it. That will fill in the groves and make it less aggressive. And then if you ever want to go back to more aggressive knurling, you can then wipe it down with nail polish remover or acetone to remove it and go back to original.
Or for permanent, you can get a metal file and knock down the knurling to your liking.
I had a full set of dumbbells with super aggressive knurling, that ripped your hands like a cheese grater and had to do that.

got one that looks the same and was the same price as this deal except from amazon. it's a good curl bar, but the knurling is so aggressive i had to get gloves to go with it so i didn't callous the heck out of my hands. i know some people like that sort of thing but i don't. also when the box arrived it was ripped open and falling apart and looked like someone hastily taped it back together.
the bar itself is great though, i'm still using it and it's been about a year.
I have had this for 3 years. Knurling softened slightly, and the end bearings are still silent smooth turning. No rust. I've never had more than 135lbs on it and use on a weekly basis.

Great ideas, I used sand paper to mellow out the knurling.
